I Love This Plant !

It starts out more pink. But as the flower ages, it becomes more white in the center, yet the outside remains bright pink. So that it has a bi-color effect. I look forward to the day , that the plant is big and covered with flowers.

Well, the Fall Camellia season is just around the corner. But I wanted to share some photos of a large camellia that I pruned this spring. It is a Mathotiana which was about 10 ft tall. It was starting to get too top heavy and not looking very attractive. So after one of Matt Hunter`s talks. Where he explained that you can cut back a large camellia quite far. I gave it a try.

I probably took about 1/3 of the plant away. But now at the end of the growing season, it looks much fuller and has an overall better shape. You can see how it has put out a lot of new growth on the bottom part of the plant, which was starting to get thin............That is just what I was hoping for
